SUMMARY:10th Annual National Medical Cannabis Unity Conference
DESCRIPTION:ASA was founded in 2002 to give voice to the needs of medical cannabis patients. Over the last 20 years\, ASA has brought together patients\, policy experts\, public health experts\, attorneys\, lobbyists\, scientists\, industry associations\, and medical professionals to create the campaigns\, projects\, and programs that have broken down political\, social\, academic\, and legal barriers across the world! \nWhile the conference will be celebrating how far we have come\, we will also be sharing strategies to overcome the final hurdles to safe access. Currently there are 48 states and 5 territories with some form of access. However\, 13 states only allow low-THC or CBD only\, and 2 states (Idaho and Nebraska) do not allow any form of access. Medical cannabis also remains illegal federally\, keeping these treatments out of reach for millions of Americans. \nCome celebrate with us as we highlight past accomplishments\, discuss current issues that remain\, and look to the future of a world we envision in which patients\, no matter where they live or what condition they have\, will have access to safe and affordable cannabis-based therapeutics.  Let’s continue this journey together!  \nLast years on-line conference is available to watch anytime. Watch Now!

SUMMARY:President Biden's Pardons: What It Means for Cannabis & Criminal Justice Reform
DESCRIPTION:On October 6th\, 2022\, President Biden issued a proclamation granting pardons to over 6\,500 people with federal simple possession of marijuana offenses. In an acknowledgment of the fact that the vast majority of cannabis convictions take place on the state level\, President Biden simultaneously encouraged the country’s governors to use their clemency power to issue similar grants. While the President’s executive actions are an unprecedented and important step forward\, there is still much more work ahead to fully redress the harms of cannabis criminalization. \nPlease join the Drug Enforcement and Policy Center and the Last Prisoner Project as we host a panel of experts to discuss how these pardons will affect people with cannabis convictions on their record\, how states could act on the President’s call\, and what implications this may have for the future of cannabis and criminal justice reform in the United States. \nThis event will be presented with automated closed captions. If you wish to request traditional CART services or other accommodations\, please contact Jana Hrdinova by email at hrdinova.1@osu.edu. Requests made at least 10 days in advance will generally allow us to provide seamless access\, but the university will make every effort to meet requests received after that date.
