SUMMARY:The Offical NY State Dispensary Showroom Tour - Mt. Vernon Edition
DESCRIPTION:  \nAbout this event\nCome learn directly from the teams who were part of launching many of the first CAURD licensed dispensaries in New York State. \nThe Bronx Community Foundation\, Dutchie\, Temeka\, KayaPush\, and Cannabis Workforce Initiative – in partnership with organizations helping to propel the New York cannabis industry forward\, are kicking off The Official Dispensary Showroom Tour in Mt. Vernon/Westchester County with Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard\, the Mayor of Mt. Vernon. \nEach event will include a dispensary installation allowing visitors to see\, touch and experience a compliant dispensary built to reflect New York regulations. This event is part of an ongoing adult-use dispensary education experience aimed at cannabis retail dispensary licensees and applicants interested in New York’s adult-use cannabis industry. This ongoing event series is important to the New York cannabis industry in a number of ways: \nHands-On Retail Dispensary Experience: The Adult-Use Cannabis Retail Dispensary Showroom and Educational Experience will physically show what an adult-use dispensary needs to be fully compliant in New York. A life-sized dispensary will be built based on current regulations. Education will be based on state regulations and are subject to change. \nWorkforce Development & Local Community Groups: We will have various organizations who can provide jobs and specific training and certification in the cannabis industry and across the state tabling and participating in this event. This event aims to create equitable workforce and educational opportunities for building generational wealth in under-resourced communities. \nPractical Educational Workshops*: Many CAURD applicants and community members have never seen a licensed legal dispensary operation from front-of-house to back-of-house. These workshops will be important for future dispensary operators and budtenders to understand what it takes to compliantly launch and operate an adult-use cannabis retail dispensary. \n*Taught by the teams who were part of launching many of the first CAURD licensed dispensaries in New York State. \nEvent Dates: Thursday May 4th and Friday May 5th \nTime: 10:00am – 5:30pm \nPlace: Baron Stages\, 55 S Macquesten Pkwy\, Mount Vernon\, NY\, 10550 \n  \n

SUMMARY:Equity\, Representation\, and Opportunities for Cannabis Workers
DESCRIPTION:As the new adult use cannabis industry develops in New York\, a critical question is what kind of jobs and careers will it create? States with robust\, established markets are reporting billions of dollars in cannabis sales per year. The jobs created in New York State\, and especially Erie County\, must share this prosperity as broadly as possible\, giving people quality careers that create economic stability and opportunity for themselves\, their families and their communities. This conversation will explore the perspectives of different stakeholders\, from elected officials to community leaders to workers to business owners\, and why they believe in the importance of good jobs as a way to create greater social equity in the cannabis industry\, empowering individuals\, and communities most harmed by decades of prohibition. \nJoining the Conversation will be: \nHazel Dukes: President\, NAACP New York State Conference \nTamika Mallory: Activist\, Author\, and Co-Founder Until Freedom \nAleece Burgio Esq. – New York State Bar Association \nFranchelle Parker – Executive Director\, Open Buffalo \nNikki Kateman – Political Director RWDSU/UFCW Local 338 \nBritni Tantalo\, Co-Founder & CEO NY CAURD Coalition \nDavid Serrano – Project Manager\, Cannabis Workforce Initiative \nNhi Kha – Co-Founder of Sativa Remedy
